Students were able to walk out to the torri gates since the island was at low tide; if it was high tide the gate would appear as if it was floating on top of the ocean.

TENNIS COURTS REVAMPED. Construction of the new MHS tennis courts began in early May of last school year, but delays caused the construction to go past the original completion date over the summer. Tennis coach Jason Agsalda as well as players hope that the courts will be completed in October before the start of the JV tennis season. Tennis players faced difficulty practicing on the old courts, due to cracks in the ground and the fact that the court faced directly into the sun; the remodeling includes the repaving and reorientation of the courts, along with a color change and new bleachers. “I am pretty excited because the last couple of years we haven’t really had a home court. The courts were in pretty bad shape and we’re just excited to have brand new courts to play on this season,” Agsalda said.
